The F5 at Thermal Raceway
So, over the past month or so, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! A teaser trailer for the new F5 they’ve been designing. Crazy to see a car take shape from CAD mockups, to foam blocks being milled, to this final concept in the flesh (kinda, it’s still foam underneath the paint). Really fun to edit and see the VFX shots that the production team shot at Angeles Crest HWY too. Underneath the VFX version of the F5 is a McLaren 720s covered in tracking markers.
The little squares are tracking points from the matchmove software.
It should be interesting to see how this car pans out over the next year or so when they source a powerplant and start testing it’s theoretical top speed of 300 mph.

It’s been beaten to death, but I dislike/distrust Hennessey for a multitude of reasons.

Cool work though! Don’t want to detract from what you did for them. Were they pleasant to work with despite their poor reputation with customers?

Yeah I can’t say I would trust them with my new car, plus I have a distrust of people who have large families (they tend to usually be motivated by religion which is an awful reason to have kids, my own 7 siblings notwithstanding)

Yeah, I know their history, it wasn’t confidence inspiring initially. But John is good to work with.
Now, the company that contracted me for the work, that’s another story, their check bounced.... so they’re fucking lame.

Hey, thats some nice work. I take Hennessy claims with a gain of salt but there is no complaint about the quality of your work here.

No engine? Isn’t that what Hennessey do?
It looks very nice, much more so than the garbage SSC...but if it doesn’t have an engine how is it a 300mph car?

The engine planned for it is either a TT V8 or some TT V10 from a viper. I’m pretty sure the car will actually be done in 2ish years...

I do have faith, given how well the Venom turned out. But making performance claims with no engines is dumb as can be. Especially when those claims put it comfortably above every other road car ever built.
